Ruff Collar Care Instructions

Products from the Chylak Heritage line are made by local craftspeople with great attention to detail. Slight differences between the products are part of their nature and make each one of them unique.

The product is made from starched cotton tulle, hand-embroidered according to the tenets of traditional craftsmanship of the town of Żywiec in Southern Poland. The starch gives the product its stiffness and its distinctive scent: with time, the fabric will soften and the scent will dissipate.

Avoid contact with water and moisture since that will cause the starch to dissolve and lose its stiffness, which can lead to the fabric getting damaged.

We recommend taking the collar to a professional cleaner to be laundered with starch: either by hand, in water, or by dry cleaning in a protective mesh bag.

The ribbon is from moiré fabric which is very sensitive to steam, which can cause deformations and damage to the pattern, which is why the item should be ironed without steam and only on reverse.

Do not wash in the washing machine. Do not iron, bleach, tumble dry or steam. It’s best to store the product in the provided box.
