Brooch and pendant are inspired by the figure of the Carpathian lynx, one the two remaining wild cat species still found in Poland and Europe. Rarely encountered and widely admired. It lives in the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland. Lynxes living in the mountains have much more prominent spots than their fellow bobcats living in the lowlands. Under strict protection, its entire population in the country numbers fewer than 200 individuals.
For the past two years, my house has been filled with stories of wild cats, which my seven-year-old daughter has been profoundly fascinated with. My fondness for Polish motifs, turned me onto wild cat species living in Poland. The lynxes living in the Tatras became the inspiration for my newest collection.
